Melanie Nicholson-Jones
Author
Melanie trained as a journalist and worked as a reporter on regional and national newspapers before going into PR, marketing and copywriting.
She writes in a range of genres, from children's literature to short stories and in her spare time enjoys photography, amateur dramatics and working occasionally as a film and TV extra/ supporting artist. Melanie lives in Berkshire and has two adult children - Amy-Scarlett and Alexander, who is at university in Southampton.

Amy-Scarlett Nicholson-Jones
Illustrator
Amy-Scarlett is a fashion, costume and theatre design graduate. After completing her Master's degree, she worked in the theatre as a costume designer and wardrobe supervisor.
When theatres closed due to Covid-19, Amy-Scarlett started working as an illustrator and storyboard artist. Until recently she worked as a teaching assistant in Bath and is currently working as an extra / supporting artist in TV and films, which she fits around her illustration work.
Why, Mummy? is designed to be read aloud by parents or carers or for young readers to try reading themselves! We hope you will enjoy our picture book!
